Flashback Friday - Remembering the Sacrifice On Oct. 23, 1983, 241 American service members—220 Marines, 18 U.S. Navy sailors, and 3 U.S. Army soldiers—were killed in the Beirut Marine Barracks bombing. Among them were Marines of 1st Battalion, 8th Marines and 6th Marine Regiment. 2nd Marine Division will never forget their sacrifice and honor their legacy through our continued commitment to duty, service, and each other.
