Firefighters in Detroit faced dangerous conditions Monday as they battled multiple fires while temperatures plummeted to subzero wind chills across metro Detroit.

DETROIT – A man has died after a house fire early Monday morning in Detroit. The fire happened at a home in the area of John R Street and McNichols Road on Jan. 26, 2026, at around 5 a.m. When crews arrived at the scene, they saw heavy flames coming from the back of the house.

Detroit firefighters rescued a woman from the second floor of a house fire on the city's west side Monday morning. Fire crews responded around 7:45 a.m. Monday to a house fire in the 8800 block of Meyers Road.

Detroit firefighter Patrick Trout, who served also served in the military, died after working a shift on Jan. 4.

A veteran Detroit firefighter died suddenly at his home just hours after completing an overnight shift earlier this month.
