Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, 2nd person to walk on the moon, watched NASA Artemis II launch from Kennedy Space Center from his home in California.

Artemis II builds on prior missions including Artemis II and early Apollo missions, including Apollo 8, which set out for a lunar flyby.

When Apollo 12, NASA's second lunar landing mission, launched from Kennedy Space Center, the space vehicle was struck by lightning— twice.
