Amazon to end support for older Kindle devices
Digest more
Updated Amazon is rewarding long-time Kindle users by ditching support for aging devices, though it is trying to "minimize disruption" for existing customers by dangling a 20 percent discount for new models along with an eBook credit.
While you'll still be able to use your older Kindle after May 20, 2026, Amazon does include one important warning in its email: if you deregister or factory reset the device, you won't be able to register it again. So if you plan to keep reading on your older Kindle, it's best to avoid doing either.
